I only put uncooked veggies and fruits in my compost as cooked veggies may have oil or butter in them. You should not put any meat, oil or any type of fat into compost. You can put yard waste that has not been treated with chemicals in there too. Leaves, grass clippings, even spent cut flowers. Good luck.
no meat or dairy small amounts of oil (olive or vegetable) are okay but they attract pests (rats and mice) I would bury the waste that contained oil several feet down
Might think of this question as what you shouldn’t put on compost pile, as just about anything that has the potential for desinigrating back into the soil can go on the pile, but I would not want meat on mine.
Bones wouldn’t go on, nor and plastics, etc. Even coffee grounds can go on, and orange and banana peelings, canteloupe and watermelon. If you have a whole lot of the peelings, may want to spread them out. Can put raked leaf piles and grass clippings, old weeds without the flowers that will seed and make more weeds. Don’t put human or pet waste materials, including the litter pan material for the cat.
