  1. We have these lights in the icicle style, from this brand. Got them last year on clearance at Target after Christmas and bought the last 3 boxes they had left. We are only using these this year because we can’t afford an increase in our electric bill. They are great! Even with pretty low sunlight exposure they come on every night. I don’t stay up to check how long though! Either way, I’m happy they’re on for the several hours of nighttime that my kids and people driving by on their way home from work can see them. They are smaller and don’t cast a ‘glow’ light regular, bigger bulbs do, but who cares? You’re still creating beautiful sights for the holiday and saving the environment and your money at the same time!

  2. I am pleased with these lights overall. I had expected them to be a bit brighter, but with full sun during the day, they stay lit all night. I have placed them on my mailbox post so I get a light marking my driveway without having to use electricity.

  3. I’m happy with the solar string lights because they are solar however, when lit, the lights look blue rather than white which is fine if you are aware of this which I was not. Also, the lights are tiny. Now that I know the diff. between the looks of these and our electric lights I will purchase them again.

  4. These solar powered lights work great on my new garden arbor. I didn’t want cords running across the patio so solar is the best option. They do have a bit of a blue cast, but they remind me of stars, quite pretty. We had three days of rain in a row during the first week we had them up. They weren’t shining brightly during the nights following those rainy days, but they still looked nice! No matter the weather they are on all night and go off with the morning light. I have no complaints.

  5. We bought several strings of these, thinking they would be the answer to our Christmas decorating challenges. They really are a great concept, and with the advancement of solar technology (and LED lights), the concept is finally affordable enough to broadly market.

Unfortunately, they don’t work quite as well as hoped. Depending on how much direct sunlight you can get during the day in the location you are working with, you may get an hour a night, or up to several (maybe 6) hours a night of lighting. The lights are very small, so seem dim compared to normal plug in lights. The strings are also short compared to plug in lights, so you can only cover a small bush with one string.

Hopefully, solar technology will continue to advance and this concept will become even more viable, but for now, if you order, maintain reasonable expectations.
