Solar Power For Your Home
As we are discovering, America has become far too dependent on foreign fuel imports, making us vulnerable to price shocks from increased demand, political instability in source countries and the increased likelihood of the weakening of the dollar. We need to reduce our dependence of fossil fuels to reduce the threats of global warming. We are forced this way with the dire need to search for alternate, environment-friendly fuel resources, to make us self-reliant in meeting our increasing energy requirements.
One option that more people are looking at is solar power for homes. Solar power can be broken down into two categories - passive power, such as more windows to let sun in and heat the house with less power from other power sources, or solar cells which collect the sun's energy and turn it into electricity. Utility companies will buy back excess power for some home owners who are not using as much as is being produced. Today, although our demand for energy is increasing, the availability of energy sources is decreasing.
Stand outside and look up into the deep blue sky, then imagine the incredible power of the sun's energy streaming into your home when you install a solar roof. Think of the advantages; no land has to be developed or spoiled as a new power plant would, you will simply add solar panels to your roof to harness the sun's energy. The real beauty of the idea is that, after installation, a solar roof will bring you energy without any further investment; there are no moving parts, nothing to wear out or need a repairman.
Solar panels are a great idea because they use the sun's free energy instead of paying for expensive fuel. I think solar power electricity is an awesome way to recycle energy and use the natural resources that Mother Nature provides for us! Using solar energy may be more efficient and less harmful than other sources of energy. You may find the installation charges of solar heaters and panels a costly affair but the developing and third-world countries may find solar electricity a boon to fulfill their energy and power requirements.
Sunlight can be harnessed from every corner of the earth, and the costs of the initial set-up would be an incredible way to provide third-world countries with a means of supporting themselves! Rural villages in Africa could experience the wonders of television, toasters, and microwaves without having to worry about using up other resources or polluting the environment. I think that solar electricity will quickly become an important resource in the very near future; hopefully many countries will start to utilize this important resource!
It just might save some places in the world from constant darkness! Live creative! Solar electricity could help globalize and reform the entire world.
fire, gas, electric, wood fire, ice blocks and a fan? What works for you, how green is it and why it works for you? Anyone have any additional costs associated with installing or using these options? Any installation professional, or self? What would you say are pros and cons to alternative power sources? What do you think is the cheapest, easiest way to power a home? Would like to hear from folks who have added alternative power sources to their homes and hear your experiences.thanks.
you will probably need to have a structural engineer verify that it will support the added weight, or design modifications to the roof framing that will allow the installation of the SP System.
The cheapest and most efficient way is still to purchase power in bulk from local utilities who pass on the savings they achieve with large fossil fuel powered generators on to you. Unless you are lucky enough to live near major hydroelectric producers or nuclear plants.
Solar power is very important to save fuel. Everybody know this thing is that we can not create new fuel. it is long process and it is created automatically in the earth (Internal activity of the Earth).

Very innovative! thanks for sharing the tips which will prove to be very helpful in future as well…
List some good reasons you would/wouldn’t want a solar power plant near your home. This is for a school project so please list some good answers.thanks.
Solar power is green and benefits the environment a number of ways, some we have already mentioned like it is renewable and eco friendly. Obviously, the two main advantages over fossil fuels are that it doesn’t produce green house gases like CO2 and there are no potential disasters that will harm the environment which tends to come from either mining, drilling or digging – or transporting from one place to another.
A super way to go right now because oil will go so high that electric bill will quadriple within 2 years time and so you will be very glad with any solar projects you took on. The sooner the better cause one year from now half the country will want to invest in this!
I’m taking a guess, but it sounds like you have a very small solar setup, and the inverter is not designed for grid-tie. If that is the case, you may wish to simply wire a completely independent circuit for your solar, or just use an extension cord / power strip to power a few devices.
It’s best you get professional help because if the inverter does not match phase with the grid there will be a very big bang! and untold damage. also there needs to be a disconnect near your meter so anyone servicing your power can shut off power from your solar panels
Typical daily electrical production of that system is 10 to 12 kilowatt hours per day, which is not much electricity.
