One of the main things to consider is the area you want to light and if there is sunlight that hits it part of the day. If the area you are considering lighting is wooded or in heavy shade most of the day, solar lighting may not be the answer. The batteries, fully charged, glow nicely throughout the night. If you have a solar spot light, your designated subject will be illuminated throughout the night. Solar lights also come in security lighting and motion detecting lights. Imagine being able to install a motion detecting light where hard-wired lights may be impractical.

Solar lighting is a great alternative to hard-wired lights. They can be installed the same day you get them. That is a great advantage when you need lights installed quickly.
