Solar Lights – What to Consider When Selecting Solar Lights
When consider adding after dark lighting you need to evaluate the different types that are available. There are definite advantages and disadvantages to whatever kind you choose. There are some factors that need to be addressed before delving into any project like this.
One of the main things to consider is the area you want to light and if there is sunlight that hits it part of the day. If the area you are considering lighting is wooded or in heavy shade most of the day, solar lighting may not be the answer. For these types of applications, you will have to have the lighting hard-wired.
If the area does get at least some sun, you can consider solar lighting. The main advantage of solar lighting is that you can merely take them out of the box, put them in areas where you think you want lights and sit back and enjoy.
All solar lights run off re-chargeable batteries and usually are included when you buy them. Just pop them in and position the lights so the solar panel that is usually attached to them is in the sun. From that point forward you are set. The batteries, fully charged, glow nicely throughout the night. If you have a solar spot light, your designated subject will be illuminated throughout the night. Solar lights also come in security lighting and motion detecting lights. Imagine being able to install a motion detecting light where hard-wired lights may be impractical.
Solar lighting is a great alternative to hard-wired lights. They can be installed the same day you get them. That is a great advantage when you need lights installed quickly.
Jerome Sturgeleski is an avid outdoors person and loves to stay out in his yard after dark. He lives in Minnesota so time outdoors is limited to just a few months of the year. After completing a landscaping project he thought the must be a way to light it up so he could enjoy in on those evenings out. He added some solar lights and liked it so well that he decided to start a website and sell solar lights so others could also add them and enjoy their outdoor spaces well into the evening. He started a website in May of 2005 called http://www.solarlightspro.com to allow people to see what types that are available.
