making wind generator with an alternator from a car?

has anyone made a wind generator using a alternator from a car? if so what could i power with it in my home. i figure i would have to run the appliance from a battery and charge the battery with the alternator. where i live i have alot of wind all the time and more in the winter. looking for ideas and don't tell me to just go buy one because they are expensive and i could make something myself. just need more ideas from you. understand i am doing this because of trying to save money, not because i am trying to save the earth. (man made global warming is a joke)
how do i make a blade for the wind to turn?

A wind generator is a device that generates electrical power from wind energy.
Wind generators have traditionally been wind turbines, i.e. a propeller attached to an electric generator attached to appropriate electronics to attach it to the electrical grid or to charge batteries.
Recently, however, a reciprocating non-turbine wind generator, theWindbelt, has been invented. It promises to reduce the cost for generating small amounts of power tenfold. Wind generators have become very popular lately as a means to generate power for your home. Large installations of wind generators can run entire towns.
Wind generators come in many different sizes and shapes from vertical models, horizontal and even rooftop models.Below is an article I found that you might find interesting.
