Economics 101, Environmental Studies 101 and Technical Science 101, should be necessary classes for everyone to study because Economics and Technology are necessary to care for the Environment and Save the Planet.

For those who may not be the university sorts or are well educated and shy away from any of these particular subjects, dont be troubled. We're talking about 101, not 401, so this is entry level logic we're dealing with, and if you don't have it yet, you have to get on board quick because there's a huge amount at stake!

So, how does Embrace Renewable Energies and Eliminate your Power Bill 101 sound to you? Now thats the kind of subject matter we can definitely undertand! Cutting edge technologies make solar power and wind power a bona fide clean energy solution!

Attention, Class is now is session.

There is categorically no hype in saying there's a lot at stake here because everyone with a set of eyes and ears understands this already. It is a well recognized fact that our planet could very well be in trouble. Big trouble! The ice caps are melting, drought is killing individuals and the future may well be pretty bleak.

Here are a few observations that lay it out.

1 If you pause and consider that each time you flip a light switch on in your home, you're conceivably damaging the planet, it's not a guilt trip, it's just a fact. I mean we're all part of it right?

2 Most electricity in the world comes from power stations that burn coal. Coal is a fossil fuel, and it's also dirty. VERY dirty! When the power plants burn it, they're belching pollutants into our environment and contributing to global warming.

3 I know I didn't send a memo to the power company and tell them to destroy the Earth, and neither did you, but we are, no question, adding to the dilemma when we use up lots of electricity.

4 You have to drive don't you? If driving your car does the environment harm, I suppose you can tell your boss to keep paying you for not coming into work, so you can save the Earth. Correct? Try that and see what it gets you! The fact is, we're all part of the dilemma, whether we like it or not.

5 People need to fly to get places, right? We can't just ground all of our air planes, and, even if we could, could YOU demand that and have anybody pay attention? Most likely not.

Ok, you get the sketch, and its precisely this sort of idea that makes a lot of people feel helpless and think there's very little they can do to help the environment. Nothing can be further from the fact!

Even if there's question about the science of it, do we actually intend to take the gamble of not taking action? So what can you do to cause a difference as just yourself? The fact is you CAN cause a difference and you are capable of making a large difference!

Here's the wonderful news... Each single occasion you walk outside your front door, you're surrounded by free, abundant, clean energy. The key is harnessing free wind power and solar power, which there is a never ending supply of, and it's a powerful force!

All you need to do is figure out how solar energy and wind engery operaties and turn it into what runs your air conditioner. Well, the technology is definatly here today, to economically build your own solar power or wind power generator for your residence, and hook them up easily. This isn't a game, and it's not some scam. It's the genuine deal, and people are doing it every day and in the process you can get rid of your power bill.

When you're running off your own renewable energy that you've generated from the Wind and Sun it's like running out your front door and discovering a wad of cash on your front step. That's almost exactly what's occuring when you harness solar power and wind power, while at the same time you are helping to save the planet.

So, here's to slashing your power costs and saving the Earth while saving your self a mountain of money in the process. When you embrace renewable energies call it an Earth-Kiss!

Proven techniques to utilize renewable energies and free instrucitons on where to begin the process of eliminating your power bill while you save the planet. Get go for solar power

Window Insulation
Windows are one of the most significant picks you can realize about your home. They offer light and ventilation, and also affect the feel of your home. There are several different sorts of windows, including double-hung, bow, and hopper. Let's briefly discuss the factors that are significant in making your picks for new windows, then we'll jump right into installing.

R-Value is the amount of resistance to heat transfer a material has. Another significant factor with windows though is U-Value. This is the amount of heat that is conducted from the outside to the inside by the contact made between the materials the window is constructed of. If you live in a cold area, I would recommend a value of 0.35 or less. So keep in mind that, the most efficient windows have a high R-Value and a low U-Value.

Your home will be less cozy because of the immediately change from warm to cold in the winter, and from cool to hot in the summer. %No matter% how thick your wall, how thick your insulation, if you don't have good windows, you will lose dollars in heating and cooling every year. The higher the insulating value of your windows, the longer the room stays cozy after the furnace kicks off.

Awning windows have the sash hinged at the top. Casement windows have a sash that is hinged on one side, this swings outward. Fixed windows do not open, so they don't offer any ventilation. Bay Windows, and Bow Windows, have multiple window units and extend out past the exterior of the house. There are many, many other sorts of windows, for special applications.

Double-Pane
When looking for a window, realize sure they are double pane. Today, there is is no reason to buy windows that are not double-pane, except maybe if you live in a area that is 75 degrees year round. These sorts of windows have two panes of glass separated by an inert gas. This separation and gas offer much better insulation than just one or two panes of glass alone. If, however, you live somewhere where it gets cold in the winter and hot in the summer, you %might have% the best windows you can afford.

Different Window Styles
Another option to consider is how your windows open and close. These windows are generally much easier to clean because you can replace each sash, or just tip it down to clean both sides of the window. Each sash is in it's own track and moves up and down independently of one another.

Window Insulation
Windows are basically holes in the wall. Windows are one of the most important selections you can make about your home.
Go Green In Your Home - And Save Money Too

If you
have the wish to go green in your home environment , and save money at the same time,it has probably never been easier. As the planet faces an uncertain future of global warming, which is believed to be the result of us all burning
fossil fuels indiscriminately, we all have a duty to do the best we can to redress the balance. Here are some vital tips and useful information to help you get started...

Your home is usually where most of your income is spent, so it makes real sense to be spending it as efficiently as you possibly can. You can start to go green in your home by insulating the house. Loft insulation, wall cavity insulation, double or even triple glazing - it will all make a tremendous difference. Yes, there is the issue of an investment to consider, but you will make savings in the longer term, and actually save a lot too.

We all use too much water. go green in the home by cutting back as
much as you can. We could all, collectively, save over one billion gallons of water a year by simply changing our old flush toilet cisterns. The old ones use three and a half gallons per flush and the new high-efficiency ones use just over one and a quarter gallon. It makes a vast difference! If you did only this one thing to go green in the home you would be saving 20,000 gallons of water every single year, and be paying a lot less in water bills.

The standard type light bulbs that most homes use are just very inefficient. Compact fluorescent light bulbs burn around 5% of the old bulbs and they last 10 times onger. They may cost slightly more to buy initially, but this is an obvious way to go green in the home and save a bundle in the long run. But you can do much better, The new LED lights are virtually twice as efficient as the normal compact fluorescent light bulbs, and they will last much longer too.

Heat leaks out of a house in winter and into the house in summer. Better insulation all round is a great way to go green in the home. Take a look at your loft, your wall cavities and your windows and even doors. Sort out all of these issues and you can go green in the home and really start to save money too.

Home utilities are a drain on energy. Did you know that modern washing powders are so good that they don't really need hot water? your washing machine uses most of its energy heating the water, so wash your clothes cold. They will be clean really great while you are going green in the home. You may likely think your dishwasher is also an energy drain, but strangely, it isn't. If you use it fully filled it uses less resources than if you wash by hand. Once you become aware of these little tips and tricks, it becomes easy to go green in the home

When we were renovating our new old farmhouse, we were sorely tempted to go all out. Put in that geothermal heat pump. Install a solar water heater. Hook up that wind turbine and sell energy back to the utilities rather than the other way around. Light up the house with sun tunnels. In other words, do what we could to get off the grid as much as possible.

And then reality set in. Namely, finances. While we'd have loved to do all of the above, after updating the home to modern standards, not a whole lot was left in the ol' bank to afford our off grid dreaming. So, what did we actually do?

Yes, we installed a very efficient heat pump. But no, it was not a geothermal one, as we were quoted approximately $7,500 more than we could afford.

Yes, we replaced our hot water heater with one substantially more efficient than what was already in place. But no, it wasn't a solar unit.

No, we didn't put up a wind turbine, even though our location makes it a feasible energy source. Unfortunately, the installation cost versus our local energy costs shows that this project just didn't make much economic sense right now.

And the sun tunnels? Well, lets just say they weren't the highest priorities on the list to start with, and you saw how the list has went so far...

So as you can see, we fell a little short of the dream. The intent was there. Even the feasibility of our plans was there. The money, alas, was not. But, that doesn't mean I'm abandoning the idea. It just means I've got to be a little more involved to finance it.

Another of my obsessions is money, investing, debt reduction, yadda, yadda, yadda. So I thought, if we're investing so we don't starve in retirement, why shouldn't we do a bit of investing to be able to afford to go off grid. Equally laudable goal I believe, and a little complimentary to boot -- after all, if our energy footprint isn't so expensive, retirement suddenly becomes cheaper as well. So that's what we're going to do.

But what to invest in, that's the big question. I'm thinking that picking up shares of, say, Exxon just wouldn't feel quite right. So even though I have an idea or ten, I'm going to do a little research and see if I can come up with a few more appropriate avenues. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear 'em!
